Bu Bu Gao Sheng

Bu Bu Gao Sheng, which literally means "step by step rise higher", is another popular variation of Chuo Dai Di in Taiwan.

"Step by step higher" is in reference to the game play in which the next player must play a higher card or hand to beat cards of the previous player.

The biggest variation of Bu Bu Gao Sheng from Chuo Dai Di is in the use of five card combinations.

In Chuo Dai Di, as well as in poker, a full house beats a straight. But in Bu Bu Gao Sheng, full houses cannot be used to beat a straight.

A flush is a legal hand in Chuo Dai Di, whereas in Bu Bu Gao Sheng, a flush is not a valid hand.

Another variation of Bu Bu Gao Sheng from Chuo Dai Di is the game play. In Chuo Dai Di each player gets a turn in playing a hand, one after another. In Bu Bu Gao Sheng, any player can make a play using a four of a kind or a straight hand to beat any player even if it's not yet his turn.

Scoring in Bu Bu Gao Sheng is also different from Chuo Dai Di. Each remaining card in Bu Bu Gao Sheng is scored one point (if a player has 10 cards or less) or two points (if the player has 11 or more).

In Chuo Dai Di, if a player has nine cards or less, each of the cards is counted as two points. If a player is left with anywhere from 10 - 13 cards, three points per card is counted.
